....and they slept..!!

Asleep....It was not that cold but they had their coverings on....Sky was ablaze with fireworks but tranquility prevailed along the roadside...After a hard day they had all retired to find their solace in open air...Don't they realize we've just won the 'cup'..??...A number of men snugged in little space...I wondered if they all unanimously dislike cricket....But wait...How could you find these number of men in India who don't like cricket..!

'De ghuma ke..'...They don't care..The fact is all the sufferings that they have had to bear for years has made them stoic...They've transformed from men of flesh and blood into machines that just need fuel to prepare them for next day's assignment...Pretty girls on T.V. and fiery men on field don't fascinate them anymore..But why do we care, our team just won the 'cup'..!

In our country we like creating utopia...'Incredible India'..But men of wisdom realize that their is a zone of lull amidst all this razzmatazz..It's not that we should not rejoice a moment of pride..But we must also realize that there is some pending work left in the backyard.. We just got a replica of the original cup...and it is up to ourselves to get the real 'cup'.

The loner in the roadside must also get to touch the 'cup',i.e.,the downtrodden must also be made a part of the celebration of the brand that India has become..and not just made characters who are mocked to make Oscar winning movies....Unfortunate ones must get their due....Not because you feel pity for them..but because they deserve it..!

A triplet from Gulzar must get its place here..

"maa ne duaaye di thi... ek chand si dulhan ki.... aaj footpath par lete hue... yeh chand mujhe roti nazar aata hai!"

Now it is upto us,the more fortunate of the lot,to at least give these 'men of roads' a chance to pave their way upwards in this hypocritical society....Till then we can celebrate with replica of the cup[not the real one!]...and play it loud....'De ghuma ke...!!'
